Meet Pigeon Baby Mama Saejung Oh-Walsh

What has been the hardest period of motherhood for you and how did you deal with it?

For me it was my breastfeeding journey. I never knew how hard this would be, let alone that I would be one to have issues with it. Nico was a lazy sucker, he didn’t want to work for his milk, and I had very flat nipples. With these extra struggles and having low milk supply, breastfeeding was near impossible for us. I persisted for many weeks, and pumped every three hours to increase my supply. But it still wasn’t enough for impatient Nico. So I have been exclusively pumping, and it’s now hit 8 months!

What is your best advice for women about to go through the jump into having their first baby?

Be organised! I’m so lucky that I had everything I needed as back up, in case breastfeeding didn’t work out, before I gave birth. Without it I would have been even more stressed, but with a newborn. Haha.

And also just know everything is just a phase, and just like any hard time, it shall pass.

Do you have any must have Pigeon Baby products?

I cannot go past my pump. My poor old pump has been used a lot! And we have four pigeon bottles handy on our bench. We have started our weaning process of breastmilk to formula, so having multiple bottles saves us time!

I’ve used all bottles and teats from Pigeon, and have absolutely loved them all!! They truly have saved me throughout this whole parenthood business.

Your favourite thing about having kids and what are you most proud of on your motherhood  journey?

I just love watching my little man, Nico explore. Figuring things out. He gets the most epic facials, and it’s just hilarious. I just can’t imagine my life without him anymore! He’s such a happy wee man, very social too, so makes it easy being out and about.

If you could choose one parenting mantra for yourself, what would it be?

I feel like both Brady and I are calm parents. We go with the flow, and not let any of the small stressors get to us. If the parents are calm, the baby is calm. Well, that’s how we see it and roll 🤣
